Ibert entered the Conservatory of Music in Paris in 1910, but has a history of volunteering and becoming a naval officer when World War I broke out in 1914 while he was still in school. Ibert sailed the Mediterranean Sea as a naval officer during the war, but this song included the impressions he had gained from his travels to Spain while he was studying in Rome. Tunis - Nefta[edit] 7/4 (4/4 and 3/4 beats are replaced). Rhythmic medium speed. With the accompaniment of strings with timpani, Col Regno and pizzicato, the oboe plays with the exotic Arabic melody freely from beginning to end. The scene of the trip from Tunis, a port city in Tunisia, to Nefta, a town in the inner part of the south. Free Encyclopedia from Wikipedia
