In the scale, the first sound is called a tonic. In addition, the fourth sound is the lower belonging sound, and the fifth sound is the belonging sound. However, in the minor scale, unlike the major scale, there is no sound. Therefore, in order to produce a sense of tonality the sound is often made by raising the seventh note a semitone. This changed minor scale is called a harmonic minor scale. Incidentally, the minor scale that has not changed is called the natural minor scale.

譜例‐和声的短音階

In the harmonic short scales, instead of being able to conduct sounds, an increase of 2 degrees is created between the sixth sound and the sound guide. Since this interval gives the melody an unnatural feeling, it may further raise this sixth note by a half tone. This scale is called melodic short scale.

There are various other musical scales and the like in commonly used scales.

The Petersburg Conservatory was opened in Anton Rubinstein (1829 - 94) at the house of a Jewish merchant, and his brother, Tchaikovsky, a friend of Nikolai Rubinstein (1835 - 81) who opened the Moscow Conservatory, was also poor They were poor people such as aristocrats who had to live music as a profession.

On the other hand, "five people" except for Barakiref were all aristocratic and had a profession in addition to music.

This difference may have made a difference in thinking about music.

Then in 1871 when Rimsky-Korsakov was appointed Professor of Composition at the Petersburg Conservatory, the difference between them became gone, and Rimsky-Korsakoff became a professional musician.
