octave

Difference in pitch between the first sound and the last sound, such as long and short scale. Complete eight degrees. When it is 8 degrees complete it is called 1 octave but the pitch difference for 2 complete 8 degrees is 2 octaves, 3 for 3 octaves.

It is usual to omit one octave as 8 va. When playing with music up by 1 octave above music notation, 8 va, 8 vb when playing down, 2 15 octaves raised, 15 mb when playing, and 15 mb when playing.
