The main theme, written by Hattori Katsuhisa, which was the opening theme of the program, has been arranged for wind orchestra. The symphonic arrangement is close to the original, requiring advanced technique for each instrument. The main solos are for trumpet and alto saxophone, and the guitar solo in the second half of the original features a challenging passage for the horn part Soli. Arranger: Louis Kihara『ストライク・アップ・ザ・バンド』はジョージ・ガーシュウィンの代表作のひとつで、1927年のミュージカル『ストライク・アップ・ザ・バンド』のために作曲された楽曲で、1940年には同名の映画でも使用されました。 ジャズのスタンダードとしても定着しており、ビッグバンドではサミー・ネスティコ編曲によるカウント・ベイシー楽団によるものが有名ですが、それ以外にも様々なアーティストが演奏・録音しています。 この編曲は、2015年に小編成吹奏楽団『小江戸ウインドアンサンブル』のために書き下ろされたもので、その後龍谷大学吹奏楽部との共演のために大編成版が制作されました。 ミュージカル風の華やかなオープニングから行進曲、ニューオーリンズ・スタイルよる前半部分へ続き、短調の中間部を経てビッグバンドサウンドのスウィングによる後半部分へ進んでいきます。 アメリカ音楽の様々なエッセンスを含むアレンジになっているので、ソロも含め各部分のスタイルをしっかり研究することでメリハリのついた演奏になるでしょう。 発音やニュアンスも含めてそれぞれの時代の音楽をたくさん聴いてみてください。 こちらの楽譜は小編成版ですが、Oboe、Bassoon、EbClarinetなどのパート譜も付属していますが、省略しても演奏は可能です。 他パートやバンド全体の人数バランスを見て楽譜を選んでください。
